Essex Squash is backing Women’s Squash Week by running a tournament at Connaught Squash Club in honour of Hazel Marsh, one of our county’s best loved squash players.
Hazel, from Chadwell Heath in Romford, won several world masters titles and was still playing squash well into her 85th year. Sadly she passed away aged 89 earlier this year and the Essex tournament on September 23rd will honour her memory.
Jointly run by the Essex SRA and the Off The Wall Squash Academy in Colchester, the fun and sociable ladies team tournament is aimed at players of all abilities and age. There is a £10 entry with all profits being split between Alzheimers Dementia Support and Girls Squash in Essex.
The tournament also coincides with Women’s Squash Week; a week-long international celebration of women’s squash which is designed to raise the profile of squash, engage more females and shine a spotlight on the successes and challenges the sport faces.
